We got an email asking JASS members to participate in an event in Stanford. Please let us know via email or at the general meetings if you would like to go in whatever capacity you wish. Please let us know before Nov. 30th. More after the break!
My name is Christine McFadden and I am a junior at Stanford University. Currently, I am helping plan the 15th annual Listen to the Silence Conference (LTS), a day-long conference consisting of workshops that highlight various issues affecting Asian Americans. Each year, the conference draws hundreds of college and high school students from around California and surrounding states. LTS serves as both an educational forum for those interested in learning more about Asian American issues as well as a networking forum for groups looking to build cross-campus coalitions and spread awareness about their cause/organization.
The conference will be held at Stanford campus on January 22nd. Recognizing the important contributions the Japanese American Student Society has made amongst the Asian American community, the LTS Workshop Committee would be honored if the JA Student Society would be interested in hosting a workshop this year. Workshops generally focus on particular issues that your group specializes in, and they last for roughly an hour and fifteen minutes. They can be interactive, discussion based, host guest speakers, or any format that you so choose.
Even if you are not interested in hosting a workshop, we have a dinner time activities fair where different organizations can host booths to advertise their organization and work. If you are interested in tabling at the fair along with hosting a workshop, or simply hosting a booth alone, please let us know also.
Please let us know if you are available and interested in leading a workshop at this year’s Listen to the Silence conference as soon as possible — we would like to solidify interest/receive a confirmation by 11:59 PM on November 30 to email@example.com with the information included at the end of this email. All efforts will be made to accommodate groups who wish to participate in this year’s LTS. If you have any questions or would like more details about the event, feel free to contact me in whichever method is most convenient for you.
