We received an email from QACON11 as they are looking for performers and/or artists to showcase for their event:
We are Simon and Betty, the QACON11 Special Events & Activities Co-Chairs. As you may remember, our Outreach Co-chairs, Belle and Ryan, contacted you a few weeks ago inviting you to our 4th annual conference. One component of our conference is the Friday Opening Night Performance and Art Show, for which we are currently searching for performers and artists. We would like to ask you to please let your members know that they are invited to apply to perform and/or exhibit at our opening night, which is to take place on April 29th, 2011. However, since the conference is not for profit and student run, we have very limited funding to provide monetary compensation to our participants. Thus, we ask for participation to please be based on performers and artists’ interest, affiliation, and/or solidarity with our cause. And this would also be a great opportunity for your members to test out and display a new performance piece or work of art for a live audience 🙂
As you already know, the conference runs for 3 days from April 29th-May 1st. The opening night will take place on Friday April 29th, from 5PM-9:30PM, with performances occurring between 7PM-9:30PM, and the art show pieces being displayed throughout.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! If you or your members have any questions, feel free to send us an email, or if your members are interested in participating, please fill out the application here or on our website, http://calqacon.com. We ask that applications be submitted by April 18th. There are a limited number of openings available, so we would appreciate a prompt reply since we will be accepting performers and artists on a first-applied, first-considered basis, in combination with a consideration for a variety in performances and art pieces. Also, response by this date will ensure that participants can be included in our program. If selected, we will also ask for a short autobiography/description of the piece (150-200 words) to appear in the program, which can either be sent along with the application, or in a later email before the previously stated date.
Thank you again,
Simon Bonzon and Betty Montaño
